One of my main values as a person and entrepreneur has always been honesty. And I believe it is the foundation for building any project. That is why I want to explain how the collaborations and the content you see on this blog work.
How much do hotels pay me?
I know many of you are expecting to read “thousands of euros per video”. And I also know many of you will be disappointed, or simply won’t believe it.
At DescubriendoViajes we do not receive money from hotels. We never have, and we do not plan to change that, no matter how many followers we have.
So... do we pay for the trips ourselves?
Yes. Sometimes the hotel offers us a free stay, and sometimes we pay for the stay ourselves. And even when the hotel invites us to stay, the travel expenses are paid by us. This way, since we do not owe anything to the hotel, we have complete freedom to be honest in the reviews and videos we create.
What happens if a hotel is bad?
First of all, if the hotel is bad, we do not go. Because why would I upload content about a bad hotel? We only visit hotels with good reviews. Usually +8, although sometimes we have gone to 7+ because they had something special.
Secondly. If we are invited, decide to go, but our stay was not good and we did not like it, we do not upload it or publish it. We will never make a video saying how beautiful a hotel is and how comfortable it is if we did not enjoy it when we went. I prefer to look bad with a hotel than to look bad with my entire community by uploading something that goes against my values.

How do we make money then?
Descubriendo Viajes is not just a blog; it is also a professional project.
To cover the costs of the website, contributing writers, trips, and hotel stays we review, we use affiliate links.
Every time you use one of the links we share on the blog and book a hotel, the travel agency or hotel chain (for example, Booking.com, Senator Hoteles & Resorts, etc.) pays us a small commission.
You do not pay more because of this. Quite the opposite: many times these links include special discounts for our community.
In addition, some hotels hire us for digital marketing and social media consulting, helping them improve their online presence; this is a service for which we charge professional fees that are independent from our reviews.

In total, approximately 2 out of every 3 accommodations were paid for by us, and around 1 out of every 3 were invitations.
In 2026, so far we have had 32 stays paid for by us and 5 invitations. This means that 86.5% of the 2026 stays have been paid for by us, in line with our goal that around 90% of stays are paid for by us. We leave approximately 10% for very specific cases: hotels that require a minimum stay of many days or accommodations we have always really liked.
Our goal: to help you choose better
We hope this transparency helps you trust our recommendations a little more. We always try to be as objective as possible, and that is why when we visit a hotel we do not only focus on whether “we like it” or not.
We evaluate many details: the comfort of the bed and pillows, cleanliness, food, pools, staff service, common areas, location, value for money, and whether we really believe that accommodation is worth it for the type of traveler it is aimed at.
Even so, a hotel experience is never 100% mathematical. Our tastes may not be exactly the same as yours, a specific room may turn out better or worse, or the hotel may have a bad day during our visit. That is why our opinions are an honest guide based on our real experience, not an absolute truth.
We hope this small contribution helps bring a bit more transparency and honesty to a world where many influencer recommendations seem spontaneous, but do not always explain what relationship really existed with the accommodation. We prefer to tell you clearly, so that later you can make your own decision with all the information on the table.
