Magic Natura Animal & Waterpark

  • Rating 8.8/10
  • 4
  • High-end
  • Benidorm

Pros

  • Terra Natura and Aqua Natura included
  • Spacious renovated cabins
  • Infinity pools with jacuzzis
  • Very complete ultra all-inclusive

Cons

  • 10 minutes by car from the centre
  • It is not a cheap resort
  • Terra Natura food and drinks are not included
  • The main water park is at Aqua Natura

Magic Natura feels like a very special choice if you want a complete family holiday in Benidorm. It is not the usual beach hotel: here you sleep in cabins , move around a huge resort and combine pools, Terra Natura , Aqua Natura , themed restaurants and kids activities.

The best part is that everything feels within reach, especially if you choose the ultra all-inclusive plan. The cabins are comfortable and the atmosphere is surprisingly calm for being so close to Benidorm. I would not choose it if you want to walk to the beach or keep the budget tight, but if the price works for you, this is the kind of hotel children remember for years.

Sol Pelícanos Ocas by Meliá

  • Personal Rating 7.9/10
  • Rating Booking 7.0/10
  • 3
  • Levante Beach, Benidorm

Pros

  • Huge pools with clearly separated atmospheres
  • Better buffet than expected for a three-star hotel
  • Generous all-inclusive with snacks, fruit, ice cream and hot food
  • A short walk from Levante Beach

Cons

  • Slow lifts for a hotel of this size
  • Bed and pillows are basic
  • Pool towels are not included
  • Reception queues at busy arrival times

Sol Pelícanos Ocas by Meliá is not a luxury hotel, but it has something that matters a lot in Benidorm: real space. Its two pool areas, with palm trees, jacuzzis and fairly separate atmospheres, are easily the best part of the hotel and what sets it apart from many other three-star options nearby.

The food also surprised us. The buffet has some average sections, especially at breakfast and with the fried items, but the salad bar, fish and some hot dishes are better than I expected. The all-inclusive makes sense if you plan to spend a lot of time by the pool.

The weak points are in the details: slow lifts, basic bed and pillows, check-in queues and the annoying fact that pool towels are not included. Even so, for families, friends or couples who want good pools, a location close to Levante and a lively atmosphere without paying four-star prices, I think it is a very reasonable choice.

Magic Robin Hood Resort

  • Rating 9/10
  • 4
  • High-end
  • l'Alfas del Pi

Pros

  • Very detailed medieval theming
  • Family cabins with jacuzzi
  • Large slides and splash areas
  • Medieval dinner show

Cons

  • Very weak WiFi
  • High price
  • Best for children over 7

Magic Robin Hood is one of the most complete family resorts I have tried in Spain. The medieval theming is not just a few decorative touches: it is in the streets, cabins, restaurants and even the shows.

If you travel with children from around 7 years old, they get big slides , laser tag, a gamer area, multiadventure activities and a medieval dinner that really feels immersive. The cabins are comfortable, some with a private jacuzzi and practical details for larger families. The downsides are clear: it is expensive and the WiFi is not good enough. But if you want a strong family expérience, not just another beach hotel, it is absolutely worth considering.

Rosamar Hotel Benidorm

  • Rating 7.9/10
  • 4
  • Mid-range
  • C. Derramador, Benidorm

Pros

  • Spacious renovated rooms
  • Mini water park for young kids
  • Food slightly above average
  • Surprisingly complete gym

Cons

  • Slow lifts
  • Sunbeds reserved very early
  • Very British-oriented
  • Slides feel small for kids over 8-10

Rosamar Benidorm feels like a good family hotel if you want something renovated, practical and fairly priced. The 2024 refurbishment shows: the rooms are spacious , well kept and the mini water park works very well with younger children.

The food also surprised me in a good way, slightly above average for many family hotels in Benidorm, and the gym is quite complete. It is not perfect: the lifts are slow , the sunbed race is frustrating and the atmosphere is very British-oriented. If your children want big slides, it will feel too small; if they are younger, it can work really well.

Meliá Benidorm

  • Personal Rating 8.2/10
  • 4
  • Levante Beach, Benidorm

Pros

  • Tropical pools and gardens well above the Benidorm average
  • Comfortable bed with Pikolin Home pillows
  • Lunch and dinner with good show cooking
  • Professional and helpful staff

Cons

  • Breakfast is weaker than lunch and dinner
  • Gym is quite limited
  • No large spa with a proper hydrotherapy circuit
  • Not directly on the beachfront

The Meliá Benidorm was the hotel we liked most after trying several options in the area. It is not on the beachfront, but Levante Beach is only about a 10-15 minute walk away, and in exchange you get facilities that feel much nicer than many urban hotels in Benidorm.

The best part is clearly the tropical pools and gardens : spacious, pretty, shaded and with a calmer atmosphere than I expected. The room also worked well for us, especially the Pikolin Home pillows , comfortable bed, terrace and small touches like Rituals amenities.

Lunch and dinner surprised us thanks to the show cooking , with dishes above what we normally expect from a hotel buffet. Breakfast, though, felt weaker. I also would not choose it specifically for the gym or spa.

For couples, families with young kids or friends who want something polished, relaxed and good value in Benidorm, I think this is a very solid choice.

Magic Pirates Island Resort

  • Rating 8.5/10
  • 4
  • High-end
  • Benidorm, Alicante
Use this code for your booking:
magicDESCUBRIENDOVIAJES

Pros

  • Very immersive pirate theming
  • Ships, slides and water zip lines
  • Access to Aqua Natura and Terra Natura
  • Ideal for kids up to 12-14

Cons

  • Cabins feel tight for families of five
  • Terraces smaller than at Natura
  • Terra Natura food and drinks are not included
  • High resort pricing

Magic Pirates Island is the resort I would choose if the priority is for the kids to feel inside an adventure from the first minute . The pirate theming is very well done: huge ships, bridges, cannons, water areas and details all around the resort.

The pools are the main reason to come, with pirate ships , slides and even water zip lines that work brilliantly up to around 12 or 14 years old. Being able to combine it with Aqua Natura and Terra Natura is another big plus. The downside is that the cabins, while lovely, can feel tight for five people and prices are high. For families wanting visual impact and lots of fun, it is a strong choice.

Villa del Mar Hotel

  • Rating 8.5/10
  • 4
  • Mid-high
  • Playa de Poniente, Benidorm
Use this code for your booking:
MAGICDESCUBRIENDOVIAJES

Pros

  • Facing Poniente beach
  • Food well above average
  • Comfortable rooms with good bathrooms
  • Calm family-friendly atmosphere

Cons

  • Not a large resort with slides
  • Snacks could be better
  • Pools are small if you want lots of action

Villa del Mar is one of those hotels that wins you over through details. It sits right in front of Poniente beach , in one of the calmer and more pleasant areas of Benidorm, and that changes the whole stay. It is not a big slide resort or a place with constant entertainment; I see it more for couples, families with young children or travellers who want beach, comfort and good food.

The food was the biggest surprise: a careful breakfast , good products and a buffet clearly above what I usually find in four-star hotels . The room is comfortable and the bathroom with hydromassage shower adds a nice touch. I would improve the snacks, but for a quiet seaside stay it is easy to recommend.

Hotel Cap Negret

  • Rating 8.6/10
  • 4
  • Mid-high
  • Altea, Alicante

Pros

  • Right by the sea
  • Very high-level food
  • Excellent for cyclists
  • Beautiful calm pool area

Cons

  • Pebble beach
  • Pillows could be better
  • Water not included with half or full board
  • Not especially family-focused

Hotel Cap Negret really surprised me. It is a four-star hotel that looks good from the start : green areas, careful design, a pool right by the sea and renovated rooms with terraces. Although it accepts children, I see it more for couples , calm adults, friends or cyclists.

If you travel with a bike , the hotel has genuinely thought about you: bike garage, mechanic area and spaces to clean or prepare your bike . The strongest point is the food , some of the best I have tried in a four-star hotel in Alicante. The beach is right in front, but it is rocky, so it is not for soft-sand lovers. If you value calm, views and good food, it works very well.

Occidental Pueblo Acantilado

  • Rating 8.3/10
  • 4
  • Mid-range
  • El Campello, Alicante

Pros

  • Very strong value for money
  • Huge apartment-style rooms
  • Calm Mediterranean atmosphere
  • Good food for a small hotel

Cons

  • Not a classic beach hotel
  • You need a car to move around easily
  • Some slopes inside the resort
  • Simple mini golf

Occidental Pueblo Acantilado is hard to sum up because it is not for everyone, but when it fits, it fits very well. For me, it offers some of the best value for money in Alicante: it feels like a small Mediterranean village, with streets, terraces, greenery and sea views.

The rooms are almost apartments, huge, with a lounge, kitchen and terraces, which is very practical for families. The pool is better in person than it looks in photos , and the food was also above what I expected . Just do not come expecting to walk out in flip-flops to a sandy beach. You need a car, and this is mainly a place to rest, eat well and enjoy the resort slowly.

Magic Tropical Splash

  • Rating 7.9/10
  • 3
  • Mid-high
  • Av. de la Marina Baixa, Benidorm

Pros

  • Slides for several ages
  • Very complete all-inclusive and snacks
  • Spacious apartments
  • Very comfortable bed

Cons

  • Weak themed restaurants
  • Limited soundproofing
  • Morning sunbed reservation problem
  • Almost non-existent gym

Magic Tropical Splash is a very practical hotel for families who want slides , large apartments and an easy all-inclusive stay in Benidorm . It does not have the strong theming of other Magic resorts, but it makes up for it with lots of pools, kids areas, a huge snack bar, food trucks and activities almost all day.

The apartments are spacious and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have tried in this kind of hotel. The weak point is the themed restaurants, which felt clearly below the buffet, plus the soundproofing. The early sunbed reservation also gets annoying. Still, if you want water, space and convenience with kids, it works very well.

Barceló La Nucía Hills

  • Rating 8.0/10
  • 5
  • High-end
  • La Nucía, Alicante

Pros

  • Calm adults-only atmosphere
  • Very large rooms
  • Well-kept pool and common areas
  • Quite good breakfast

Cons

  • You need a car
  • Dinner below five-star level
  • Small gym
  • Inconsistent reception service

Barceló La Nucía Hills is a good hotel if you want calm, an adults-only atmosphere and a comfortable base near Benidorm and El Albir. It is not on the beach, so for me you need a car ; without one, it loses a lot of its appeal.

The rooms are very large, with huge terraces and even a small kitchenette, and the common areas have the quiet feeling you want on a couple getaway. Breakfast is quite good, especially the pastries and live cooking. Where it falls short is dinner, which does not always feel five-star, and a few service details. I would recommend it for one or two quiet nights if you find a good deal.
