Temptation Cancun Resort: my review after staying
We stayed at Hotel Temptation Cancún to find out if it's really as good as they say.
And we're going to tell you everything good, everything bad, what audience it's aimed at and, in general, everything you need to know so you don't make a mistake on your vacation.
If you have any questions, you can leave a comment or send us an email / DM on Instagram. ¡We've visited 25 resorts in the Caribbean and now we know how to choose well!
1. Quick summary of my personal experience at Temptation Cancun Resort
I stayed 2 nights and 3 days at Temptation Cancún Resort, one of the most famous, controversial and secretive hotels in the entire Caribbean.
Temptation is a resort adults only with a very particular concept: sensual, with topless pool, daring and with an energy unlike any other hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya.
But precisely because of that, it's also one of the most difficult to find firsthand information… or you're going to ruin your vacation if you're not the right type of traveler.
Here I tell you the good, the bad and what nobody tells you before booking.
2. Pros and cons of Temptation Cancun Resort
✅ Parties from 3:00 PM with pool games, pool party, challenges…
✅ Sensual shows, themed dinners with dancers, and nighttime parties.
✅ High-quality food and excellent dinner restaurants.
✅ Great vibes among guests
✅ Quiet jacuzzi and pool areas
❌ If you're shy, you'll feel overwhelmed
❌ Not recommended if you're under 35 years old, as the average age is around 40. You won't find twenty-somethings or college students. If look for a younger vibe, take a look at RIU Palace Bavaro or RIU Caribe which is near Temptation.
3. Temptation Cancun Resort: Map and layout
The first thing you should know is that the hotel has several areas for each of your needs at different times of the day.
A main topless-optional pool (when I stayed, about 50% of women were without their bikini tops, so don't worry if you're embarrassed—it's not mandatory to take it off).
Another area outside the main pool called “relax area” that has a beach bar, a quiet pool, and rest areas surrounded by gardens and shade.
The beach is right in front, but it's not very wide and the main activities happen at the pool. Plus, with pools, jacuzzis in various areas, and beach bars, there aren't many incentives to go to the beach. Although it is well-equipped with cushioned loungers, shade, etc.
Overall, it's a “medium-sized” resort with 617 rooms and it takes about 5 minutes to go from one place to another.
For me, out of the entire list of all-inclusive hotels in Cancun and Riviera Maya, it's the best for partying and “wild” activities.
4. Temptation Resort: Facilities
I'll now share my experience with the hotel facilities, since I tried them all (that's what I do for hotel reviews, haha!)
The pools for me, 9/10. since you have several depending on what you feel like, and it doesn't feel crowded.
Infinity pool on the rooftop, with several jacuzzis and areas to lounge. Great idea if you want some quiet time. Whenever I went it was almost empty or empty (everyone's at the party haha)
Quiet pool on one side of the resort.
Topless-optional pool (it's the largest and where the party is). It has a beach bar both inside the pool and outside. You hardly have to wait to be served drinks, so good on that part.
Gym: Very complete. One of the most complete I've been to in Mexico and you have all the machines for lifting or cardio.
Beach: It's fine, but it's not the main attraction of the hotel. You have quality loungers, shade area… Although I didn't spend much time there either because I preferred being at the main pool with the atmosphere or having drinks on the rooftop.
5. Buffet food and à la carte restaurants
My experience in the buffet restaurants (breakfast and lunch) as well as the à la carte restaurants has been very good, but I'm also going to tell you some things that could be improved.
Breakfast buffet: Overall it was good. Plenty of sweet and savory dishes. Although I did miss a bit more healthy options. The service was very good and attentive.
Lunch buffet: Also was fine, though I also missed more variety in meats and fish. Perhaps being in high season and having only one part of the restaurant open played a role. Despite that, good quality and freshness in the dishes.
À la carte dinners (included): For me the highlight of the meals. The à la carte restaurants are very very good. Whether it's meat (rib-eye bruuuuutal) or fish and seafood (lobster, salmon, sushi…).
The appetizers are also very tasty and it works as follows: you have 6 appetizers to choose from, 4-5 mains and 4 desserts. And you can repeat whatever you want.
You have to book several hours in advance, and for me it's much more of an experience. And although the buffet dinner is fine, I recommend you don't forget to book the à la carte restaurants.
6. Themed parties, games and daily activities
* Keep in mind that it's very difficult to take photos in these places without guests being present. So I couldn't create much content at the parties and activities.
Attention. If wild parties scare you, don't read this review!! hahaha
The main attraction of the hotel is the themed parties with sensual shows. So I'm going to tell you what they're like so you can get an idea if it's what you're looking for or not.
Daytime pool parties
In the mornings, everything is peace and relaxation. But starting from 2:00 PM things start heating up with pool activities.
For example, there's a game where participants one by one have to get on a paddleboard and the staff move it. The person who stays standing the longest without falling into the water wins… The trick?
They add seconds to your time for each piece of clothing you take off before getting on… +10s for the top +20 seconds if you stay on the board with nothing on…
I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but… There were participants who got 20 extra seconds hahahaha!
Besides those games, you have even spicier ones like dance competitions… fake org…. and many more from Monday to Sunday.
Overall, it's a very fun atmosphere that gives you a chance to meet and talk to many people at the resort.
Nighttime parties
Once the sun sets and the daytime parties end, you have 3-4 hours to rest, have dinner and start getting ready for the night party.
This party takes place on floor 1, right where you see me in the photo. There's a stage, DJ, and entertainers who do dance shows.
The party starts around 10:00 PM and ends at 2:00 AM.
Most guests stay to party at the hotel and there's a great vibe, so there's no need to go to clubs like Coco-Bongo as can happen at other resorts that don't have such a good party scene.
Plus, if you meet someone, your room is right next door… 😉

7. So... do I recommend it or not?
That depends on each person. The hotel itself is very good and the quality of the facilities, food, shows and entertainment is outstanding.
If you're looking for partying, meeting more adventurous people and living a different vacation, then yes.
I don't recommend it if you're shy, don't like such a bold atmosphere, or are coming as a couple with a traditional mindset.
8. Tips and advice after staying
- Don't let laziness or “I'll do it later” stop you from booking the themed restaurants. It takes 1 minute and I assure you'll love them.
- Join the entertainment activities (as many as you can!), even if at that moment you're more comfortable at the beach bar having a cocktail. This way you're going to meet many more people and who knows… 😉
- Bring at least one pair of long pants. It's mandatory at the restaurant with the show.
- If you want to visit CocoBongo one night, first check the price on their official website and then I recommend contacting Oliver on Instagram (head of relations) and buying it at the same price with him so he can give you a great experience or help you if you need anything.
9. Prices, availability and discounts

At the moment we don't have any discounts, but you can leave a comment in case we've received one but haven't updated this page yet. That way we'll send it directly to your email.
10. Our point-by-point rating
When we stay at a hotel, we don't just take photos and record videos, but we also note all the impressions and what we see at the hotel.
Once our stay is finished, we write point by point the individual and overall rating of the resort.
So when we say a hotel has 8.5/10, that rating makes sense and we can compare it with other hotels.
