Breathless Punta Cana: My Honest Review After Staying (Adults-Only Resort with Party and Relax)

When you’re looking for an Adults-Only hotel in Punta Cana, you come across the Breathless . It’s located in Uvero Alto (about 40 minutes from the airport), an area where the beach has more golden sand and a wilder feel than in Bávaro.
The Breathless is marketed as a resort of “unlimited party and luxury” , but is it really a 24/7 nightclub or can you actually rest? We paid about €374 per night and gave it the highest score on our list of all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana ( 9.0/10 ).
After staying there, we’re here to tell you the whole truth . From the “trick” to use the facilities at the neighbouring hotel, to why Antonio, the cook, won us over.
My quick verdict
We give it a 9.0 out of 10 . The Breathless Punta Cana is the king of balance . It’s perfect if you want to combine party moments (Pool Parties, DJs) with moments of total relaxation.
It’s not a cheap hotel, but the quality shows. The food is above average (those homemade pizzas…), the service is a 10 and the rooms are a luxury. Would we recommend it? Absolutely , especially for young couples or groups of friends who want a good time but with class.
Three things that stand out: the vibe is balanced (you can go from a foam party to reading in silence in 5 minutes), the service is on another level (Antonio at the buffet, Daisy at the coffee shop), and the connection with Dreams Onyx gives you access to a water park, a lazy river and more pools.

Pros and Cons
The good
- The staff is on another level: we have to highlight Daisy at the coffee shop (great coffee and super friendly) and Antonio at the buffet. He made us a pasta that wasn’t even on the day’s menu, exactly the way we wanted it. A legend.
- Balanced vibe: you can go from a foam party to quietly reading a book in 5 minutes.
- Real gastronomy: they have an espresso coffee machine at breakfast (something incredibly rare in the Caribbean) and a natural smoothies corner.
- Connection with Onyx: you get access to the facilities at the hotel next door, including a water park and a lazy river.
The bad
- The ‘Beef Steak’: at one of the restaurants they overcooked the meat. It was good, but they went past the right point.
- No salmon at breakfast: for a hotel at this level and price point, we missed having smoked salmon at breakfast.
- Initial jacuzzi cleanliness: when we filled it for the first time, some leaves and residue came out from the pipes.

Dreams Onyx Connection: the map’s secret
This is something most people don’t know and it’s a massive bonus . The Breathless is internally connected to the Dreams Onyx (the family hotel next door). Just a 2-minute walk away (the black arrow on the map), you get access to:
➡ Black arrow: Water Park and Lazy River
You get access to a water park with slides (in case you want to unleash your inner child), a lazy river to just float along, and you can also use the restaurants, beach and pools at the Onyx.
🔴 Red circle: Xcelerate Pool (the party)
This is where all the action happens. Music with a DJ all day long , electronic vibes, games, activities like aqua biking and shows with professional dancers.
❤️ Red heart: Relax Pool (the calm)
The relax pool has areas where you can be truly isolated and private . It also has a bar and sits right in front of the beach. This is where the nighttime parties take place.
🟥 Red rectangle: Hotel centre
This is the central plaza where you’ll find the restaurants, live performances and parties , the most beautiful bar we’ve seen (it has a towering wall with all the famous bottles) and the perfect coffee shop we’ll talk about later.
⬛ Black square: Hotel and gym
This is where the Breathless is located, along with the gym it shares with the Onyx.
Gastronomy: the human factor
The food is a 9/10 , but what makes the difference is the service.
The Buffet (Spoon) and the “Antonio” factor
The quality of the homemade pizzas, cheeses and salads is very high. But we want to highlight Antonio at the pasta station. He’s not just friendly; we wanted a specific pasta that wasn’t on the day’s plan, and the guy went into the kitchen, found the ingredients and made it exactly the way we wanted . A legend.
Breakfast
Very good, with an international and a Mexican zone. Golden tip: ask the cook for freshly made waffles and pancakes . If you grab the ones already sitting on the tray, they’ve been there for 20-30 minutes and they’re not even close. Get them made fresh!
The coffee shop and lobby bar
A mandatory stop. Daisy looks after you wonderfully and the sweets are addictive — some even better than the ones at the buffet. It’s right next to the main bar, where they have every type of drink and brand ; if you’re here, we assume you drink alcohol, and here you’ll feel like you’re in the best pub.
Pools and shows: pick your vibe
Here you choose your own adventure, because the hotel separates the vibes really well:
Xcelerate Pool (party)
This is where the action is. DJ, dancers, foam parties… Ideal for meeting people and having cocktails without leaving the water.
Relax Pool
If what you want is to switch off, there’s a huge, silent pool right in front of the beach, with semi-private areas.
The general vibe
We really liked it. At first people might seem a bit shy, but it’s a very healthy mix of couples and groups of friends. It’s like being in a nightclub with good vibes but without the trouble. You feel safe in a “chic” atmosphere.
White Parties on the beach
They’re amazing. They set up a stage on the sand with fire shows, professional dancers and a DJ . The nighttime vibe by the sea is one of the best parts of the trip.
In the lobby they often play live relaxing music , perfect for a quiet drink without loud noise if you’re not in the mood for partying.

The Breathless Punta Cana shines when you want to combine party and relaxation without leaving the resort. But each month has a different price. Check what it costs for your exact dates and decide without relying on us.
Activities, gym and spa
We’ll be honest here. The gym at the Breathless is very good , but it’s not “super top” if you’re a serious bodybuilder.
The good: great for cardio, with modern treadmills and a functional training area.
The bad: it could use a bit more space and we missed more variety of leg machines.
Daytime activities
We tried quite a few activities (we got up early to do them), like morning yoga , stretching, games like giant Jenga and we even danced bachata and zumba. This is one of the hotel’s strongest points; the staff surprised us in a good way.
The Spa
They didn’t let us in to film or take photos , so we didn’t even try it. We can’t give an opinion on this, but they do have one. From the outside it looks big.
Jacuzzis and rooms
The rooms are modern, tech-friendly and with incredibly comfortable beds (perfect for resting after the party). A very large bathroom with one of the biggest showers we’ve tried and, of course, a rainfall shower head.
The terrace jacuzzi
Almost every room has one. It’s a massive bonus for relaxing with a drink in the evening with good company. Just one detail: the first time we turned it on, some dirt came out (dried leaves from the trees), but once cleaned, the experience was great.
Ground floor rooms
You have the option to choose rooms with access to a semi-private pool , which you can use discreetly and adds a more romantic touch to your trip.
Both main pools have a large jacuzzi that fits about 20 people with warm water.
Who is this hotel for?
It’s for you if:
- You want a holiday with your partner or friends where you can party without leaving the hotel.
- You’re a foodie : you appreciate a good espresso, custom-made pasta and brand-name drinks.
- You like socialising but avoid crowded nightclubs.
It’s NOT for you if:
- You want absolute peace and quiet 24 hours a day (for that, better go to Meliá Punta Cana Beach ).
- You can’t tolerate loud music in the main pool area.

- You're travelling with kids . This is an adults-only resort.
