Hotel Rosamar Benidorm: My Honest Review After Staying. Is't worth it? Pros & Cons

By Javier Sobrino
Travel expert and founder
We came to the Hotel Rosamar Benidorm , one of the best-known family hotels with water slides in the area. It’s quite popular, especially with British tourists, and we wanted to try it for ourselves to see what the rooms, pools, food and all-inclusive are really like.
Plus, the hotel was completely renovated in 2024 , so we also wanted to check whether that renovation actually makes a difference or if it’s just a bit of paint and touch-up.
In this review we’ll tell you the good, the bad and which families we’d recommend it for .
My quick verdict

We give it a 7.9 out of 10 . It’s a renovated family hotel with spacious rooms, a decent all-inclusive and a fun mini water park for young kids. The food is a notch above average and the gym surprised us. But the lifts are slow , the sunbed reservation is chaos and the whole place is very much geared towards British tourists.
In a sentence
A good renovated family hotel with a mini water park for young kids and solid value for money. But if you want big slides or a more international crowd, there are better options.
Pros and Cons
The good
- Spacious, renovated room: split into two areas (bedroom with king-size bed and lounge with sofa bed), with a large terrace and a small kitchenette. The 2024 renovation shows.
- Mini water park: fun for kids up to about 8, with several slides, a splash zone and a tipping water bucket.
- Food above average: the quality of the products felt a notch above other family hotels in Benidorm, though it could use more variety.
- Well-equipped gym: one of the most complete we’ve seen in a Benidorm hotel. Not huge, but you can train properly.
- Water park snack bar: not the usual crisp-packets-and-nothing-else affair. They have coffees, ice creams, hot food, sweets and drinks.
The bad
- Very slow lifts: often faster to walk down than wait. Frustrating at peak times.
- Sunbed race at 9 am: by 9:05 most sunbeds already have towels on them and hardly anyone is actually sunbathing. The hotel should manage this better.
- Very British-oriented: the food, the vibe and who your kids will play with are all heavily geared towards British tourists. If you’re Spanish, bear that in mind.
- Water park for young kids only: if your children are over 8 or 10, it’ll feel too small. No big slides.

First impressions and lobby
Check-in was pretty quick for us. We arrived around 1:30 pm and there weren’t too many people, so no issues there.
First impression is good. The lobby looks renovated, modern and well kept . I wouldn’t call it a boutique hotel, but it does feel like an updated, quality hotel for its category. You can tell the 2024 renovation wasn’t just surface-level.
There’s also a cafe in the entrance area, which is handy if you arrive before check-in time or just want a drink without leaving the hotel.
The lifts
One of the hotel’s weak points. They’re quite slow and, often, it’s faster to walk down than wait. Even going up, depending on the floor and time of day, you wonder whether it’s worth waiting or just taking the stairs. This happens in plenty of large Benidorm hotels, but we noticed it especially here.
The room and bathroom

Room
The room is one of the hotel’s positives.
It’s quite large and split into two areas. On one side you have the bedroom, with a king-size double bed. On the other, a sort of lounge with a sofa bed, a table and a small kitchenette area with a sink and microwave.
It’s not a full kitchen for cooking, but you do have space to prepare or heat something up. That said, this isn’t a hotel you’d come to to cook. The norm here is to go all-inclusive or at least half board.
The room looks new, renovated and well cared for . It also has a spacious terrace, which always helps.
The bed is fine. Not one of the best we’ve tried, but not bad either. The mattress is comfortable and does the job. The pillow is standard too, in line with many Benidorm hotels. It does the job without standing out.
We also tried the sofa bed and, surprisingly, it’s quite comfortable to sleep on . That doesn’t always happen in hotels, because many sofa beds are uncomfortable, but in this case it was better than expected.
Bathroom
The bathroom is clean, renovated and a good size . Not huge, but it doesn’t feel small either. Pretty good for a hotel in this category.
We’d give the bed and pillow an 8 . The bathroom, an 8 . And cleanliness, a 9 .
Food: breakfast, lunch and dinner

The food is generally fine. The quality of the products felt a notch above the average for family hotels in Benidorm, though it could use more variety to take the buffet up a level.
Breakfast has the usual: sweet, savoury, hot options. But it’s very geared towards British guests. And this is important to keep in mind, because most of the food is designed for them , especially from May to October. We don’t know if it changes in winter or during the off-season, but during the main tourist season the British focus is obvious.
At lunch and dinner we found good quality, though we missed a bit more variety.
We’d give breakfast a 7.5 . Lunch and dinner, an 8 .
The all-inclusive
The all-inclusive felt correct. You get drinks, cocktails, coffees, ice creams, snacks, hot food and self-service in some areas. Not the best all-inclusive we’ve tried, but pretty good for the type of hotel it is. We’d give it an 8 .
Pools and water park

The main pool opens at 10, but the sunbed area opens at 9. What happens? From 9 onwards the famous towel race begins.
People walk in, leave their towel on a sunbed and then go off to breakfast. By 9:05 you can see plenty of sunbeds reserved with hardly anyone actually sunbathing.
Watch out for the sunbeds
This happens at many family hotels in Benidorm, but it’s still a negative. If you do the same and go down early, you’ll probably find a spot. But as a system, we don’t think it’s ideal.
The hotel has a fun mini water park . It’s not huge, but it’s good for young kids. I’d say it’s designed for children up to about 8, maybe 10 at most if they’re not too demanding. It has several slides, a splash zone, a tipping water bucket and water games.
If your kids are over 8 or 10, it’ll probably feel too small. In that case, I’d look at other hotels with bigger water parks.
At the family pool there’s a fairly large bar where they serve cocktails and drinks. It’s also an area where they put on shows when the season allows.
Near the kids’ water park there’s a snack bar more focused on the all-inclusive. And we quite liked this, because it’s not the typical snack bar where you only get crisp packets and not much else . Here you have coffees, ice creams, hot food, sweets for the kids and drinks for the parents. Plus, inside the kids’ area they have a self-service section for all-inclusive guests, which is quite handy when travelling with children.
We’d give the pools an 8 .
Kids’ facilities

Besides the mini water park, the hotel has a kids’ club, entertainment team, table tennis and a small playground . During the day they run activities for children and you can tell it’s a hotel designed for families.
That said, we come back to the same point: it’s good for young kids, especially up to 8 years old. For older kids, teenagers or families looking for something more exciting, I’d choose another hotel.
We’d give the kids’ facilities an 8 .

Gym and spa

The gym is quite well equipped for a Benidorm hotel . It’s not huge, but probably one of the most complete we’ve seen in this area. You can train most muscle groups without issue.
The spa area is small: it has a small heated pool with hydro massage and a sauna. There are also massage options, including Thai massages, though we didn’t try them.
It’s not a wellness-focused hotel, but as an add-on it’s fine. We’d give the adults’ facilities a 7.5 .
Staff
Staff seemed fine to us. We didn’t have a huge amount of interaction, but what we needed was sorted out well. We asked them to set up the sofa bed and they did it quite quickly. We also lost a card in the gym and they gave us a replacement without any hassle.
I wouldn’t say the service was spectacular or well above average , but it was friendly, normal and correct. We’d give staff an 8 .
Beach and surroundings
The hotel is in the Levante Beach area, one of the most touristy parts of Benidorm.
The good thing is you have bars, pubs, karaoke bars, restaurants and atmosphere right on your doorstep. If you want buzz, you’ll have it.
The downside is that it’s not the quietest area of Benidorm . Even though it’s a family hotel, one or two streets away you can find party zones and nightlife.
We give Levante Beach a 7 because it’s wide and famous, but also very touristy and very crowded in high season.
Who is this hotel for?
We’d recommend the Rosamar mainly to British families who want to come to Benidorm, to a renovated hotel with spacious rooms, all-inclusive, decent food and a water park designed for young kids.
If you’re travelling with children up to 8, it can be a good option. If you’re travelling with older kids, I’d probably look at other hotels with bigger slides and more facilities.
If you’re coming as a couple, personally it wouldn’t be my first choice either. It’s clearly a family hotel.
Who this hotel is NOT for
- If you want big slides or a more complete family resort, there are better options in Benidorm. - If you’re coming as a couple or want total peace and quiet, this isn’t your hotel. - If you’re not British and care about the vibe and food being oriented to your taste, bear in mind the guests are mostly British.
