Best Pueblo Indalo: My honest review. The best family holidays in Almeria?

If you look for a holidays on the coast of Almeria and you travel with children, it is impossible that you have not come across the Best Pueblo Indalo in Mojacar.
At first glance, it catches a lot of attention because it is not a hotel full of rooms together ; it is an immense complex designed like an authentic arab or andalusian little village, with its streets, domes and squares, located right on the beachfront. But is it really as comfortable as it seems or, being a “village”, do you spend the day walking? After staying there, I come to tell you
the whole truth . I tell you in advance that here you are not going to put your family in a dwarf room where you trip over the suitcases, the apartments have 2 rooms and a fairly large living room-kitchen .My quick opinion after staying
I give it an 8/10 (on Google it has a 4,1/5, so I quite agree). It is the winning option if you look for the perfect balance: you want the giant space of an apartment so as not to get overwhelmed with the children, but you do not want to give up having your food made, the pools with slides or the entertainment all day. It is a hotel very clearly focused on families, and if your children are between 2 and 8 years old , I assure you that they are going to have a great time.
The best and the worst (Pros and Cons)
The best
- The space: the apartments are immense. Ideal for large families or for parents who want their own room.
- The children’s water park: it has a great separate zone for children (up to 140 cm maximum) with slides and jets.
- Super comfortable logistics: despite being a large enclosure, you walk the whole thing in 2 or 3 minutes. Besides, it is full of ramps and has elevators in certain zones. It is perfect if you go with a baby stroller.
- Anti-queue strategy: they have the great success of opening two buffet zones with the same food so that the people disperse and there are no agglomerations.
- Location: literally in front of the beach. You only cross the street and step on the sand.
The worst
- The WiFi: it is very, very slow. If you intend to telework or watch streaming movies, you are going to suffer.
- The quality of the food: I give it a 7/10. It is not bad at all, but it is very standard for a massive resort or compared to an a la carte restaurant.
- Attention to the air conditioning: watch out when booking, because some of the most basic apartments do not have air conditioning in the rooms (only in the main living room).

Rooms: no more sardine cans

Here is the great secret of this hotel. Being an “aparthotel”, the families breathe. They have very spacious one or two room apartments. We were in a very comfortable one: it counted with a living room, bathroom, a main room with a double bed and another room with two beds , besides the sofa.
Is it worth using the kitchen of the apartment? Honestly, it is a functional kitchen but somewhat small; I do not recommend it to start making stews for a large family. However, it is a total lifesaver if you go on a tight budget in the middle of august, or if you are the type to do excursions and spend a lot of time outside the hotel and do not want to be tied to the dining room schedules. To prepare breakfasts, quick dinners or baby food , it more than delivers.
Pools: The splashing paradise

They have 3 pools in total, and here the children are the kings.
- General pools: they have two big pools perfect to swim or to be with slightly older children and adults.
- The splash zone: this is the undisputed star for the little ones. It is a pool focused on small children, with adapted slides, water jets and zones that barely cover. It is a very safe environment where they have a blast.
Gastronomy: Is the Buffet worth it or do I cook?

As I was telling you in the cons, the food is normal and the variety is acceptable (do not expect haute cuisine). They have a central zone where they cook meats, fish and paellas live. What I did love was their organization: the dining room is spacious and they open two zones with the same food to avoid the horrible queues that form in other hotels in summer. They make thematic dinners that give it a different touch every night.
My advice: Unless you want to save to the maximum by cooking yourself in the apartment, I recommend taking the buffet (Full Board or All Inclusive) over eating out. It will more than make up for not having to wash dishes or think about what to make to eat after being soaking all morning.

Entertainment, Sport and the “Challenge” of the Parking

The hotel is not just sleeping and eating; you have entertainment all day:
- The beach: right in front you have the Lance Nuevo and El Cantal beaches. You only have to cross the promenade. They are wide sand and pebble beaches, with good access and beach bars nearby.
- Sport: they have a small gym that is worth visiting to keep in shape, besides soccer, basketball, tennis, paddle tennis courts and billiard tables.
- Entertainment: the entertainment team does not stop. They do simultaneous activities for all ages during the day, and at night they set up musical shows .
- The parking: we were very lucky and found a spot on the street right in front of the hotel. But I warn you: parking in Mojacar in the middle of summer is quite difficult. The hotel has paid parking (the spots are limited) , so if you do not want to go around a thousand times in the sun, try to book it in advance or arm yourself with patience.
The Final Verdict
For whom do I recommend it?
Perfect For
- You have a large family or highly value having a living room and separate rooms.
- You have children between 2 and 8 years old ; they are going to hallucinate with the water park and the entertainment.
- You look for logistic comfort with ramps for strollers, two buffet zones to not wait and the beach a step away.
Skip It If
- You are very demanding with the gastronomy (if you look for signature dishes or premium variety, the buffet will seem like a 7 to you).
- You need fast WiFi for work.
- You go as a couple looking for absolute silence , romantic dinners and relax without children's noises.
