Best Family Hotels in Benidorm from the UK: A Tried and Tested Guide

My opinion after staying 📝

This is not a themed hotel, it is an entire medieval village. Statues, wood, carriages and dirt tracks leading to the different villages, and the scenery holds up in every corner, street and restaurant, not only at the entrance.

The rooms are the part families ask me about most. The children’s room has a slide inside it, to come down from the top bunk. Two beds below, two up in a loft, and their own slide. The upper lodge adds a main bedroom with a double bed and its own bathroom, a second bathroom, a lounge and a private jacuzzi on the terrace.

The water is split in two so it does not turn into chaos. The relax side is the quiet one, with loungers in the water, bars and a splash park for children up to 8 where adults can join in with water pistols. The other is the adrenaline side: very tall slides, several towers by age, and single or double rings.

The Medieval Challenge is a 9.5 and you have to see it: the knights on horseback look real and the children pick a side and shout for their team. Do not pay for the VIP entrance, it only makes you wait two hours beforehand to look at some horses.

One thing to know before you book. The WiFi is close to useless and drops after five minutes. At this price that is not acceptable, and it is honestly the only serious fault the resort has.

Who I recommend it to

For families with children from 7 upwards who want a resort where nobody is bored, and for anyone who wants an experience rather than a room.

Not for families with children under 7, who cannot use most of what you are paying for, and not for anyone who needs to work from the hotel.

💡 My tip: Book the Ultra All Inclusive: it gets you into the Medieval Challenge at no extra cost, and that show is the thing everyone remembers from the holiday.

My opinion after staying 📝

It beats hotels a category above it on food and cleanliness, and that is why value for money is its highest score, an 8.5. It has been refurbished, it is very well run and it is spotless. Probably the cheapest good family hotel we have tried in Benidorm.

There is one detail worth more than it sounds. You can also use the facilities of the Hotel Tropic, of the same chain, one minute on foot. Two hotels for the price of one: it is somewhere else to go, and a second pool for when yours fills up. Water and wine are included with lunch and dinner too, which is money you do not spend at the end of the trip.

The food is what surprised us most. It went down better than in most four-star hotels in the area, and the proof is in the date: we went in the last days of May, when most hotels are not yet at full strength and there is less variety, and it still did not get boring.

The beach is the other reason to be here, and it comes with a correction. The calmest, most family-friendly stretch of beach in Benidorm happens to be the closest one, and it is the highest score on the sheet, a 9. But it is a 15-minute walk and there is a hill, not the few steps our own post used to claim. With a pushchair you can still get down, the path has ramps.

What you do not get is a smart hotel. The public areas have a classic, slightly dated feel: this is a hard-working hotel, not a design one. The rooms are the opposite, impeccable, and you sleep well in them.

Who I recommend it to

For families on a tight budget who still want a clean room, a good bed, good food and a slide, and for anyone who wants the quiet end of Benidorm.

Not for anyone after luxury, and not for anyone who wants an international, English-speaking crowd around them: here the guests are mostly Spanish.

💡 My tip: Book this one early and with free cancellation, it is not marketing: as soon as the sun comes out the price climbs until it sells out.

The theming gets a 10 because it is not decoration, it is the whole resort. Reception, the cabins, the restaurants, the wooden fences, the bridges, the tables, the stools, the signs and the children’s areas all follow the pirate line. You walk around and you pass cannons, statues, barrels, walls, rope bridges and pirate ships about ten metres tall.

There are water zip lines that carry you from one pirate ship to another, and you will not find that in another hotel in Spain. It is the most spectacular part of the resort and the most photographed. It is aimed at children up to 12 or 14, though adults enjoy it too.

For smaller children it is better resolved than almost anywhere. The 2 to 8 zone is built around a giant octopus with a soft climbing structure, in a half-circle of water where they climb and play with nothing to hurt themselves on. Next to it there is a zone that comes up to a metre with steps at different heights, and a mini water park about 30 centimetres deep with slides, jets and a giant bucket that tips over every so often.

The three pool areas are separated by age and the first one is a quiet chill-out that works with a baby: it is the 9.5 on this sheet. The one thing to check before you book is the size of the cabin, because with five people the sofa bed cuts the lounge in half and moving around gets awkward.

Who I recommend it to

For families with children between 2 and 14 who want the theming to be real, and for anyone travelling with a baby who still wants a quiet pool to sit by.

If you are three children, the Magic Natura cabins are two or three metres bigger, so look at that one first when space matters more than the scenery.

💡 My tip: The Ultra All Inclusive is the sweet spot, not the Premium: the Premium mainly buys a front-row cabin and shorter queues, and on food and drink the difference is tiny.

My opinion after staying 📝

The water park is on two levels and both are well judged: a zone of small slides with a pool about 30 centimetres deep, and another one with tall, fast slides. It is built for children but an adult enjoys it too. The ideal age runs to about 12 or 14, and after that it depends on the child. Children’s facilities are the highest score in the hotel, a 9.

The thing that stayed with me is not on any hotel description. The lifeguards are the best thing here, and we saw it in a real situation: a little girl ran off and threw herself into the water without knowing how to swim, and the lifeguard reacted immediately. In a resort full of water and children, that is worth more than any facility.

The entertainment does not stop, and it runs to gone half past eleven at night: pool games, foam parties, music and the mini disco during the day, shows and live music at night. Everything that is not children’s fun, though, is old. The apartments are roomy, with a lounge, a kitchen, a terrace and a sofa bed, but the furniture, the windows and the curtains are all asking for a refurbishment, and the pillows are the worst in our database, a 6.

Two more things worth knowing before you arrive. The buildings have no lift, so ask for the ground floor when you book, not when you get there. And bring a spare towel each: between the shower, the pool and the gym one is not enough, and every time you use it you have to go to reception for a clean one.

Who I recommend it to

For families with children from 3 to 12 who want slides, a pool and entertainment laid on all day, and who would rather have a big apartment with a kitchen than a smart room.

Not for anyone who cares about sleeping well, between the pillows and the sound insulation, and not for a couple after a quiet week: this place is 100% families.

My opinion after staying 📝

It has three different slide zones, so it works from babies to teenagers. A pirate ship with mini slides, games and a splash zone for the little ones; two slides, one covered and one open, in the main pool for children a bit older; and a separate water park with three towers for teenagers and adults.

The one everybody remembers is the big U: it has the vertigo and the adrenaline you actually want from a water park. In that area there are fast slides to race each other on, some with an almost free-fall feeling, and others with rings, more height and more curves. Some of them take a double ring, so it turns into something you do with your child instead of something you watch.

The main pool is lake-style, with beach entries and a barrier that stops children crossing into the deep end, which is a lot of peace of mind with small ones. There is a bar in the middle of the water, a jacuzzi, Balinese beds and a wide sun terrace, and off to one side a pool 10 or 15 centimetres deep with a mini water park for babies, away from the noise.

The food is where it drops. The themed restaurants are the lowest score in our whole database, a 5: both the pirate tavern and the Italian felt like canteen food, and the ordinary buffet was much better. In fairness, Cristina found the tavern good in September 2025 and Javier did not on a later stay, so the honest reading is that the kitchen is not consistent.

Who I recommend it to

For families with children of any age who are here for the slides, and who will use the pools all day.

Unlike the rest of the Magic hotels, the ultra all inclusive is not the obvious choice here, because what it mainly buys you is the themed restaurants. It only pays off from 7 nights, when it adds Terra Natura, Aqua Natura and the Medieval Challenge.

💡 My tip: Go to the buffet early or halfway through service, never at the end: the first day we went late and the rice, the pasta and the cooked dishes were dry.

What this hotel is like 📝

The Magic Aqua Rock has everything a family looks for in a summer holiday: an area where the children have a lot of fun and facilities for the parents who would rather rest or sunbathe than go down a slide.

The water park has 6 slides. The ones that surprised me were two very long spiral ones, one indoor and the other outdoor; the other 4 are fast and straight, but good fun. The area for the little ones is at the foot of those slides, in a splash pool with a lot of water jets and a play park with mats and balls.

Parents get a main pool themed as a cave with a waterfall, where you can watch a large cinema screen, and several jacuzzis. On top of that there are adults-only areas like the spa and the rooftop, to have some peace while the children are with their friends or in the mini club.

Who it is for

I recommend the hotel to families with children of any age. There is fun here for everyone, and because the hotel is not very large the children make friends more easily. It is for high budgets, though.

It is the family hotel with slides in Benidorm with the best rating, 4.6 out of 5 on Google, and there is a reason for it. Here are its strong points and its weaknesses.

For me it is a hotel for children under 6 to 10 years old: the water facilities and the park of mats and inflatables are aimed at those ages. They have a blast, and most of them do not want to go home.

For adults there is a very complete spa with all the main facilities, and outside it, the family pool and a fairly large jacuzzi.

Choose at least full board in high season. The whole beach area is packed, and besides, the buffet food is very good and the organisation is impeccable: in few buffets have I seen that the food never runs out.

Who it is for

I recommend this hotel to people with children under 12. The little ones will have a great time and you get high quality facilities and food. Recommended for high season in Benidorm.

Now we move on to a larger complex with a water park suitable for the whole family: it is perfect for coming with teenagers and with the little ones as well.

For adults there is a spa with a lot of areas, cervical hydromassage jets, a pool, a relaxation room, a jacuzzi and a massage area in the middle of a beautiful pond. On top of that there are 7 pools, and my favourites are the saltwater one and the lake pool.

The little ones get a lot out of the water park, which is divided into 3 slides and a splash zone, a children’s pool with a mini slide. Something else worth highlighting: it has rooms with a private jacuzzi on the terrace and spectacular views. If you are a premium member you get 2 exclusive pools, but it is not worth paying more for that.

Who it is for

This is the family hotel that I always recommend to everyone, because no matter how old you are you will get a lot out of your holiday in it.

What this hotel is like 📝

The Deloix is one of the hotels with slides in Benidorm with the best value for money that I know of.

Its water facilities have slides of different sizes, and the water jets are in a pool that is barely deep at all, where the little ones have a blast. The rooms are spacious and perfect for 3 or 4 people, and on full board it does not go over €1,700 in high season.

For adults there is a rooftop with a pool, adults only because they have a snack bar up there, and a spa with 2 pools and jacuzzis.

Who it is for

I recommend this hotel for families with children under 10 who want to spend somewhat less money, bearing in mind that it is far from the city centre.

My opinion after staying 📝

This is the one on the list where a British family will feel most at home, and it is worth saying plainly. The hotel is heavily geared towards British guests, and that shapes three things: the food, the atmosphere and who your children are going to play with. A large part of the buffet is built around them, especially from May to October.

The room is split into two areas and works almost like an apartment: a bedroom with a king size bed on one side, and on the other a lounge with a sofa bed, a table and a small kitchenette with a sink and a microwave. Not a kitchen to cook in, but enough to heat something up, plus a wide terrace. The sofa bed is genuinely comfortable, which does not usually happen.

The mini water park is fun but it has a use-by date: 8 years old, 10 at the very most. Several slides, a splash area, a tipping bucket and water games, and for small children it is very good. Past that age they grow out of it, and you should be looking at hotels with bigger water parks.

Two practical things. The 2024 refurbishment shows everywhere except in the lifts, which are very slow, often slower than walking down. And the lounger area opens at 9 while the pool opens at 10, so people drop a towel and go to breakfast: by 9:05 there are rows of reserved loungers with nobody on them.

Who I recommend it to

For families with children under 8 who want a recently refurbished hotel, a kitchenette in the room and a British crowd around them.

Not for families with teenagers, who will have run out of water park on the first day.

💡 My tip: The gym is one of the most complete we have seen in a Benidorm hotel, so if you do not want to lose your routine on holiday, this is a real argument for it.

What this hotel is like 📝

The hotel is perfect for coming with small children under 8, because its water facilities are small and aimed at those ages: it has a couple of mini water slides. They also have a mini club and a video game room.

The other good part of the hotel, and the reason I like to point it out, is that it has an indoor heated pool, which makes it an interesting option to choose out of season. The family rooms are not bad at all, either.

Who it is for

Recommended for families with very small children, up to 5 years of age, because the water park is more of a splash zone with two one-metre-high slides.
